A recent trip to Dubai on a video shoot provided some time to do some photography. This is a city that makes London look flat. Everything goes up very far and very fast. I noticed the difference in just a year. They seem to have an ability to build tall buildings between tall buildings.
Late on in 2013 I had the opportunity to film in Clare Smyths kitchen at restaurant Gordon Ramsay in Royal Hospital road. Whilst there I got my 5D in to action doing stills. After looking at the pictures take a few minutes to watch the video at the bottom of the page.
The Road plays a great role in Russian history and culture. The vast territory of Russia implies long journeys, diversity of fellow travellers, never-ending heart-to-heart talks along with a transitional way of life. The moments of action and stillness, revelry and reverie, cacophony of sounds and unexpected silence, collision of viewpoints and coincidence of interests are interwoven into a sophisticated pattern. This pattern is called “Russian Road”.
Working on a boundary between fine art and social documentary style, I have captured my view of the Trans-Siberian Railway line that runs from Moscow to Vladivostok, over 9,000 km across the immense territory of Russia.

Whilst photographing at Oblix the new restaurant in The Shard I set up a camera to video the world below.
I was there to photograph the renowned chef Rainer Becker at his stunning new restaurant Oblix. I had photographed him ten years earlier at Zuma, so it was great to have the opportunity to see his new restaurant. I shall post up some of the results in the not to distant future. I shall also post up one of the portraits from the shoot ten years ago.
Of course one of the great aspects of this restaurant is the fantastic view across London. The world looked so small below and I wanted to represent it in the video. The Canon G12 had just the answer for this with one of its presets allowing me to set up the camera, point and shoot!
I have just published a new gallery on Behance. The pictures were taken on one of my trips to the Olympic park in the summer. Click on the link and have a look at the rest.
Early September took me to Girona in northern Spain. But not to see the winding, cobbled streets or the maginficent church that dominates the centre of the town. No this trip was to visit a restaurant five minutes from the centre in a more suburban environment.
El Celler de Can Roca is one of those restaurants that is a must to visit and I was fortunate enough to get both my stills and video cameras on the scene. The restaurant is owned by three brothers and on the day I was there two of the brothers were working in the kitchen. So first with the stills camera some portraits of Joan Roca the eldest of the three brothers. These pictures were taken in front of the cellar which appeared to be as large as the restaurant.

Next with his youngest brother Jordi we went to the restaurant and photographed the brothers in the central atrium which is populated by trees and walled by glass.

Following on from that I picked up my video camera and spent several hours filming in the kitchens. Below is the first of two videos that I have made from the trip, this is about how the kitchen functions.
So there will be more to follow on from this trip so watch this space……
Just a few weeks ago with the sun was shinning (in fact it was a hot summers day in the middle of September) I was sent by a client to photograph Danny Pecorelli, managing director of Exclusive Hotels. The client had said do something with the swimming pool, it looks fantastic.

Well, when some says that there is only one thing you can do. And that is stand your subject in the pool. Thankfully he was up for it. Maybe an excuse to cool down a bit.
Following on from that I got Danny Pecorelli into his lycra, with his very professional bike he posed in front of the swimming pool. I just love this shot! Thanks Danny, your willingness to work with me generated a great set of pictures and a happy client.

Well, twice in a year I have had the opportunity to meet with Tom Aikens. Firstly to take his portrait and photograph the newly refurbished restaurant. Secondly, to make a video. Take a look at the photos in my Behance gallery:
But before you go take a look at the video of Tom Aikens making a ‘House made ricotta, green olive juice with pine nut ice cream” mixed in with an interview about his passion for his roof top garden.
Recently had the opportunity to photograph Jason Atherton, one of the bright stars of the London scene. The shoot took place at his restaurant ‘Pollen Street Social’. I was given plenty of time to do the photos of both Jason and the restaurant.
